This promo clip for the show Burn Notice has covert-operations agent Michael Westen, as portrayed by by Jeffrey Donovan, explaining how to use espionage techniques to snag a promotion at work.

The second season of Burn Notice is supposed to return on USA Network during the Summer of 2008. I’m really looking forward to its return. I enjoy the bits of spy knowledge imparted in the stream of consciousness voiceovers.

In case you didn’t know, a burn notice is an alert that a spy agency puts out to warn others that a spy has become unreliable. This happens to the Michael Westen character in this series. He’s dumped back in his home town of Miami Florida and tries to put his life back together with the help of old friends and family. At the end of the first season, he’s on his way to meet up with the people who burned him. The new season of Burn Notice promises to be quite exciting.

    Hi Simon and Amy,

International licensing issues are a pain apparently. Hopefully they’ll get all this legal stuff sorted out sooner rather than later.

YouTube works sometimes but most professional video clips there are unauthorized and subject to quick copyright takedowns.

  7. Nice Blogger from SEO Blog Says:

The video can be seen only from United States, why is that or I’m the only one who is receiving this error?

  8. Jason from Spy Shop Says:

    How true, how true.

I had a boss at work that was a master at this. It was interesting to watch. My first boss worked twice as much as him and accomplished much more.

But he spent all his time talking to people and smoozing and not really working. Next thing you know, he got the promotion. Go figure.

  10. Jannice from Project Colloboaration Says:

Spying is a great tactic (especially if used in a good way) because as we all know, information is the best weapon against virtually anything. Business is not an exception as it gives you leverage on promoting your name and everything else in it.

  11. mike from cheap auto insurance Says:

In our economy we have to learn to deal with others so that you will have a good image towards then and also we have to be responsible in our every action.

  12. Mustana from Florida Car Insurance Says:

So what makes Westen, and the show, so compelling? It’s a combination of several elements that, working together, make him a character who is both complex and easy to empathize with. First of all, he takes hits sometimes. Taking a beating is one of the first things he does in the show, one result of his blacklisting

  13. Gertie from Probate Law Chicago Says:

So glad to see Bruce Campbell getting a higher profile. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love that guy.

  14. silver beads Says:

i remember promotions i the 90’s were much easier to gain, you were with a company for a few years, they trusted you, you worked hard and in a few years you were promoted, now days, not only jobs are hard to find, but promotions are unheard of, unless your in a fortune 500 company and have been there for 14 years lol
    anyhow nice article
