Here’s a video that shows you how to repair a XBox 360 Red Ring Of Death. Cool music track too.

There’s been a flood of new material on this. Some say that it takes special training to do it. Have you been successful at making this kind of repair? I have a lot of ideas and things to try with it. You don’t have to spend a cent though if you do it yourself.

It is also a good idea to look for accessories for the xbox 360. So that you can see that xbox 360 people are very unhappy because you will realize that the feeling that it’s going to break doesn’t go away. Not only that, They are still seeing new xbox 360 for $199. I think that I will have quite a few people take me up on this video xbox 360 red lights and I have yet to slow down a bit. While this is by no means all inclusive, this video will give you a good starting point. No. Fortunately, it’s very easy to have a this unit repaired with a bit of luck.

Oh man, this is such a great resource! I’ve had to send in 2 of my xbox elites already to get them fixed!

  2. Matt's 360 Elite Says:

Hmm this video is very useful, but still looks a little tricky. Is it easy to open up the console ?

Im tempted to fake a receipt with a newer date on to get microsoft to fix mine ….

  3. Adam Says:

I’ve always likes this video, it’s so popular all over youtube and Google and that’s because it’s very helpful I’m guessing.

There really isn’t much to this trick at all and even though this video isn’t the best tutorial for instructions, it’s still good…

    Awesome post!

  4. Xbox 360 Red Ring Of Death Fix Says:

I wrote a review of the best Xbox 360 repair guides. You don’t want to use a towel or anything like dangerous like that.

  5. Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death Says:

Even this video talks about letting your xbox overheat (by pulling out the fan connection) so it’s just as bad as using towels etc.

Get a decent guide before trying to do this yourself

  6. Karlonia from Xbox Red Light Fix Says:

Wow, this is a nice video — I’ve bookmarked it in my favorites at YouTube because it might make a good addition to an article I am putting together on repairing the Xbox.

Meanwhile, did anyone else notice the text message at the end when he got it working? It said “VIOLA!” — I wonder if he realizes that this is actually a musical instrument…

  7. Red Ring of Death Says:

Looks like a use video as far as getting your xbox 360 up and running

  8. SalsaBoy's Clean Red Widgets Says:

I guess if you are into the whole do-it-yourself thing, this is great but I’d rather send it to somebody to fix. I am a lame-o when it comes to getting inside these boxes.

  11. Video Games Xbox Says:

It had to go through this problem and tried to fix it myself but as I was doing it I bumped one of the small resistors and broke it off now my Box is over the Hill.
Lucky the Xbox prices dropped and I got a brand new one and this time I got insurance on it!

  12. Jacksonville Injury Lawyer Says:

Every time I turn on my Xbox I fear the RROD. I’m good at electronics though, so I’m glad to see that it can be fixed at home.

Great video styling too, very reminiscent of classic 80’s movie montages.

  13. dee from xbox 360 Says:

I’m glad that I never had this problem (knock on wood :)) Hopefully I never would, but I will be bookmarking this site just in case.

  14. chris from Black mold Says:

Great video. I had problem with xbox 360 and wish i seen this video before i paid to get it fixed.

  15. Rob Martin Says:

It helps to know what error your xbox 360 has before attempting to fix it yourself, Many people have told me that any console that was made after jan 2008 dont have problems like the three red light, Thats not true because I have repaired three xbox 360 elites this week. Good video tho, but when attempting this fix, get a full step by step guide, they explain everything clearer.

  16. High yield certificate of deposit Says:

Thanks i needed this video. I had real problem with my xbox and the video helped me alot. Like the fact i could see how to fix it not read how to.

  17. Xbox Primetime Says:

Never seen this video before. I guess if your comfortable fitting a heatsink to a pc cpu for example then you should be fine carrying this out too. I wouldnt have thought it would always work though. If the chip is damaged from all the overheating then this isn’t going to magically repair that damage. Better than many other methods though!

i heard microsoft is going to start charging the to fix the RRD?? no?

  19. Microsoft Xbox Says:

Hah I had a very similar idea but never really got around to testing it out. I wonder why Microsoft didn’t provide a proper heatsink for the CPU to begin with though…

  21. chris from electronic components Says:

Isn’t a used 360 now down to about $99. I’m considering buying one I’m just afraid of this stupid red ring of death. A clerk at gamestop said I shouldn’t buy a used one because if I don’t have the receipt with the warranty on it and I get the red ring there’s absolutely nothing I can do. Is that true?

I dunno man, if I do buy one and worst comes to worst I’ll just follow this video.

  22. Glow Gloves Says:

Whoa…What was that..Thank God I did not find any such problems with mine and hopefully I do not. But thanks a lot for the post. It was very helpful.

  23. Cheap Xbox 360 Games Says:

I didn’t know RRD can actually be fixed. What I know is that you keep the broken old Xbox in your closet and buy a new one and wait til it gets the RRD again… Just kidding! Anyway, if it’s really gonna be fixed then it will be very great and helpful information.

  26. Amy from Free Xbox 360 Says:

Personally I’d be too afraid to do this. As for buying one at $99, Microsoft cover for RROD for up to three years now right? Surely that’s a reasonable amount of time for an Xbox to last? Most people will have kept their invoice anyway, if not, what’s to stop you getting another from Amazon etc with an invoice? Am I being naive?
